Volunteer Committees

The Coalition does its work through its Volunteer Committees. Please take a few minutes to learn more about the Coalition. Find a role that interests you and then join us.

The Screening and Professional Education Committee informs healthcare providers about lead hazards, advocates for enforcement of NYS mandated testing of children for exposure to lead at 1 and again at 2 years of age, and works to implement systemic policy change. Members of the committee include pediatricians, insurers, and employees of the Monroe County Dept of Public Health, University of Rochester, and ABC HeadStart.

The Government Relations Committee
translates the work of the other committees into actionable legislative and regulatory initiatives and provides legal and legislative insight to Coalition discussions. Members of the committee include employees of the University of Rochester, Rochester City School District, Monroe County Dept of Public Health, Empire Justice, City of Rochester, and Highland Family Medicine.

The Finance Committee manages the Coalition’s financial records and makes monthly status reports to the Board of Directors.

The Education and Outreach Committee guides the outreach, educational, and media activities of the Coalition. Members of the committee include parents and employees of ACM Laboratories, University of Rochester, City of Rochester, ABC Lead Resource Center, Group 14621, Monroe County Board of Education, Monroe County Dept of Public Health, Childcare Council, Finger Lakes Healthy Systems Agency, and the Promotores de Salud.

The Housing Committee promotes Lead Safe Working Practices and works to inform contractors, homeowners, childcare providers, and other affected workers about the Environmental Protection Agency's new Renovation, Repair & Painting (RRP) rule.

The Science Committee monitors the latest research about lead poisoning and ensures that all members of the Coalition have a sound scientific basis for the conclusions we reach and the actions we advocate.

Unless otherwise noted, all committee meetings take place at the Finger Lakes Health Systems Agency located at 1150 University Ave. Please click here for directions.
